What happened
Typhoon Faxai made landfall near Chiba City in the early hours of September 9, 2019, and cut mains power to much of the prefecture for days. Frothly’s Chiba relays ran on generator power for three days. For six hours, an outage at an upstream network provider slowed delivery across East Asia while traffic moved to Osaka and Seoul.
Our Chiba staff were safe. We added a fourth relay in Chiba the following month, so the site can lose any one relay without slowing delivery.
