Calibrations resumed.
Calibrations continue. No action is needed from anyone who uses Glossia or runs a relay. Dr. Haneumann asks that questions about the calibrations wait until they are complete.
About this notice
Clients choose relays partly by how much traffic each one can carry. Those figures come from measurement clients that test every relay in the directory around the clock, and over months the measurements drift, by a fraction of a percent, away from what the relays can really do. A drift that small has no effect on delivery today. Left alone for a year or two, it would begin to send slightly too much traffic to some relays and slightly too little to others.
Calibration corrects the drift, one relay at a time, by comparing the measurement clients against each other and against reference relays in Chiba. It does not interrupt delivery, and relay operators do not need to do anything.
